Can I add additional utilities to my home during my lease?

Landlords are responsible for setting up and maintaining all required utility and service contracts for the home. This includes services such as electricity, water, sewer/septic, gas, trash disposal, and internet.

If you would like to purchase additional services beyond what the landlord has already set up (for example, an additional internet line, cable service, or other optional utilities), you may do so only with the landlord’s approval.

Please note:

  • Any additional utility or service arranged by an individual tenant will be solely the tenant’s financial responsibility.

  • The landlord will not reimburse tenants for optional or independently established services.

  • If you choose to purchase additional utilities, you must ensure that the landlord-provided services remain active so that other housemates may continue to use them.

  • Tenants are responsible for paying any service provider directly for utilities they independently arrange.
