Financial Assistance for Tenants in North Carolina

At Alcove, we’re here to support you, and we’ve gathered information on programs and resources that may help if you’re facing financial difficulties with your rent.

If you anticipate not being able to pay rent on time, contact your landlord as soon as possible through the Alcove Support Portal. Open communication can help you explore options like payment plans or applying for rental assistance through third party agencies.

Government and community programs are available that can provide financial aid to renters in need. Some common options include:

  • Emergency Rental Assistance Programs (ERAP): Federally funded programs to assist with overdue rent, future rent, and utilities. Visit https://www.ncdhhs.gov/.
  • Nonprofit Organizations: Groups like the Salvation Army, Catholic Charities, and United Way may offer rental support.
  • State and Local Aid: Many states and municipalities have their own housing assistance programs. Dial 2-1-1 or visit www.nc211.org

Alcove is committed to helping you navigate these options and will do our best to assist in processing any rental assistance you may secure. Remember, assistance must comply with your lease terms and be accepted by your landlord.
