Collect verified tenant reviews, review private feedback, and choose which reviews appear on your Alcove listing.
Tenant Reviews allow roommates on Alcove to share verified feedback about their experience living in your home.
Owners control which reviews to feature publicly on their Alcove listing. You can also view private feedback from tenants that is never published publicly.
Featured tenant reviews can help prospective renters feel more confident about applying, because they can see feedback from people who actually lived in the home. Private feedback can also help you identify small issues, such as maintenance items, shared-space concerns, or utility problems, before they affect future lease-ups or renewals.
Tenant Reviews can be accessed from your Tenant Reviews page in your homeowner portal.
How Tenant Reviews work
By default, eligible tenants receive an email invitation 30 days before their lease ends. They can submit a review any time before their lease end date.
After the lease end date, the deposit return window begins, and the tenant can no longer submit a new review or provide feedback for that lease.
If a tenant is renewing or switching rooms within your home, they are still be eligible to submit a new review. However, only the tenant’s most recent review can be featured publicly on your listing.
Reviews for leases ending before May 24, 2026
For leases that ended on or before May 24, 2026, tenants will not be automatically invited to write a review.
To collect reviews from these tenants, you will need to manually invite them from the Tenant Reviews page. Once invited, tenants will have until May 2027 to complete their review. See: Collecting Reviews from Past Leases (before May 2026)
Inviting a tenant to write a review
Tenants are automatically emailed when they are eligible to write a review. You can also manually send eligible tenants a reminder write a review.

When sending a reminder, you can include a personalized note. Tenants are more likely to respond when the invitation includes a personal message from the owner.
To send a review reminder:
- Go to the Tenant Reviews page.
- Click Manage Review Requests in the top right.
- Select the tenant or tenants you would like to remind.
- Add a personalized note.
- Send the reminder.
The tenant will receive an email prompting them to submit a review. No further action is required from you until the review is submitted.
What a Tenant Review includes:
Public review: Only visible on your public listing if you choose to feature it.
Lease context: Alcove automatically attaches relevant lease details, such as the bedroom number, lease start date, and lease length.
Private feedback: Feedback visible only to you. Private feedback is never published publicly and is not shared with applicants or future tenants.
Featuring a review on your listing
Public reviews are not automatically published. Any review marked Not visible to public will remain private unless you choose to feature it.
To feature a review:
- Open the review by clicking See Full Review.
- Select Feature on Listing.
- The review will appear on your public listing page.
Featured reviews remain visible on your listing until you unfeature them.
You can unfeature a review at any time from the same menu. Once removed, the review will no longer appear publicly, but it will remain in your Tenant Reviews table.
Private feedback is always private. It is never shown on your listing and does not require any publishing action from you.
Tenants cannot edit or remove a review after it has been submitted. However, if a tenant submits a new review on the same room after renewing, the earlier review will be automatically removed from your public listing.
You will be notified and can decide whether to feature the newer review instead.

How long does a featured review stay on my listing?
A featured review stays on your listing until you unfeature it, unless it is replaced by a newer eligible review from the same tenant in the same bedroom.
Can a tenant submit multiple reviews?
A tenant may be able to submit a new review if they renew or switch rooms within the home. However, only their latest review can be featured publicly on a given bedroom.
Can tenants edit or delete a review after submitting it?
No. Once submitted, tenants cannot modify or remove their review.
Can I respond publicly to a review?
No. Alcove does not currently support public replies to reviews. If a review raises an issue you would like to resolve, you can contact the tenant directly through the 'contact resident' button in your Service Tickets page.
