Alcove lock setup - New Property Setup
The Alcove Property setup shift is an automatically scheduled and required service for all Alcove homes.
Once the first bedroom lease is countersigned, the Alcove platform handles of all tasks related to access via the vendor marketplace. Typically, the shift will be completed within 5-7 days of the first tenant lease signed or the Date Available for Move-In, whichever is later.For more detailed information, open Property Onboarding from your property in Alcove Manager.The following work is covered during the New Property Setup shift:
- Alcove will ship the front door electronic keypad, lockbox, and individual bedroom electronic locks for your property, sending them either to your residence or a secure location.
- Please note that Alcove does not store hardware. Instead, the hardware is delivered to your home before the shift, usually within 2-3 days of the scheduled date.
- Owners are charged for hardware installation via the Alcove ledger, and the cost will be deducted from your first rent payment.
- From there, our designated vendor(s) will install these devices at the property and upload and verify each access method. These access methods are shown in Access Management so you can retrieve them when needed.
- All original front door and bedroom door hardware is removed during the installation. Original hardware is kept at the property; you will find more information in the Job Report for the service.
- Additionally, Alcove will make each tenant's assigned access available in MyAlcove on their scheduled move-in date. There is no need to provide access directly to your tenants.
- Access methods are accessible in Access Management in your listing dashboard. Once the first tenant lease is finalized, you can add, edit, replace, or delete access methods there.
- Finally, the vendor will place room numbering stickers on each bedroom door. This helps tenants easily identify their assigned rooms when moving in. Once everything is done, a job report will be provided for your review.

What is the process for changing access when a tenant moves out?
As part of our automatic tenant turnover service, Alcove will order the assigned vendor to update the front door and bedroom access methods when needed. This is done to prevent the previous tenant from having access to the property and to ensure that the new tenant can enter securely. The updated access methods can be accessed in Access Management.
