International Applicants on Alcove
Alcove allows international applicants and uses alternative verification methods when U.S. credit history is unavailable.
Most applicants on Alcove complete our standard TransUnion screening, which includes a credit report and background screening. However, international applicants typically cannot complete this process because they do not have a U.S. Social Security Number (SSN).
This does not necessarily indicate that the applicant is less qualified. In many cases, it simply means they do not yet have a U.S. credit file.
Instead of a TransUnion screening report, international applicants are required to submit alternative documentation, which may include:
-
Passport identification page
-
Valid U.S. visa, as well as supporting immigration documents
-
School enrollment documentation (if applying on a student visa)
-
Income, savings and employment information
Because visa holders must maintain valid immigration status in order to reside in the United States, these documents provide additional verification of identity and legal presence.
Reviewing International Applicant Documents
On Alcove, these submitted documents will appear on the tenant’s application page, replacing the section where you would normally view the TransUnion screening report.
We recommend reviewing these materials carefully when evaluating the application.
While Alcove collects these documents as part of the application process, Alcove does not independently verify the authenticity of immigration or identification documents.
