What if I lose my Bedroom Key?

Starting in 2024, Alcove is moving towards entirely keyless home, including front doors and bedroom doors. Some legacy homes may still have keyed locks and steps to take if a key is lost can be found below.

Upon move-in, all tenants receive a front door code. Some tenants will have a keyless bedroom lock (access code only, no key provided) and some tenants will have a keyed bedroom lock (physical key provided upon move in, no access code)

Front Door Access: Your electronic front door access code can be found in your MyAlcove Portal under "Access & Resident Info" section starting at 9am on the first day of your lease and is active through the last day.

Bedroom Door Access:

Keyless Bedroom Lock: Your electronic bedroom access code can be found in your MyAlcove Portal under "Access & Resident Info" section starting at 9am on the first day of your lease and is active through the last day.
Keyed Bedroom Lock: Your bedroom key will be stored in a locked bedroom pouch with your corresponding bedroom number in the community drawer. Please check your move in email for more information on your bedroom pouch and physical keys.

We understand that things happen, and if either the front door or bedroom key is misplaced or lost during the course of the lease and a tenant is unable to access their home, we suggest taking the following steps to gain access:

Urgent/Emergency Access Needs

If immediate access is needed, call a trusted locksmith company to gain access to your home/room. The tenant will be responsible for the payment of this service. A few of Alcove's recommended locksmiths are listed below, but tenants are welcome to hire a locksmith of their choosing.

Non-Urgent Access Needs

Submit a support ticket through your Alcove Support Portal. We will review the request within 48 hours and schedule a field technician to inspect the lock and rekey if required. All lockouts that require a field technician visit will result in a $50.00 charge to the tenant's billing portal.

All keys and fobs (bedroom, garage, mail, clubhouse or pool fob, parking pass, etc.) must be returned upon move-out. Any keys or fobs not returned upon move-out may result in the landlord deduction the cost of any rekeying service from the tenant's security deposit.
