Can I turn off automatic rent payments on my account?
No. Alcove’s payment system is designed to automatically charge rent to the payment method on file on the due date for all active lease agreements. Because automatic payments are part of the signed lease agreement, they cannot be disabled while your lease is active, and payment methods cannot be removed to avoid scheduled charges.
The Electronic Payment Addendum included in your lease agreement (Page 2) outlines this authorization. It states:
The Landlord, including Landlord’s agent, has appointed Alcove, Inc. (“Alcove”) as the Landlord’s payment collection agent solely for the limited purpose of accepting and processing funds on the Landlord’s behalf. Such payments will be made pursuant to the terms and conditions found on Alcove’s website at https://help.alcoverooms.com/alcove-terms-of-service, which are incorporated into the Lease by reference in Paragraph 33 (b) of the Lease.
By including the Electronic Payment Addendum in the Lease, Tenant authorizes Alcove to charge their account on behalf of the landlord for the amount indicated on the lease agreement.
By signing your lease agreement, you agreed to these payment terms. As a result, automatic rent payments are required for the duration of your active lease.
