My garbage disposal isn't working. What should I do?

Please follow the steps below to ensure the garbage disposal is in good working order. If these steps don't work, please submit a support ticket in your Alcove portal here.

  1. Make sure the garbage disposal switch is in the "Off" position
  2. Check the circuit breaker and see if the disposal switch has been tripped
  3. Clear the sink and disposal drain of any food scraps 
  4. Locate the disposal motor under the sink and gently press the red reset button. If the button doesn't stay pressed in, wait 10 minutes and try again
  5. Run cold water and switch the garage disposal to the "On" position to see if the unit will run.
