What Should I Do If the Power Goes Out?
If you experience a power outage in your home, please complete the troubleshooting steps below before submitting a support ticket.
Important: Electric service (as well as all utilities) for the home is set up and managed by the landlord. If the issue cannot be resolved with the steps below, the landlord may to contact the electric provider or schedule a technician.
- Check the breaker box (typically located in a spare bedroom, garage, or laundry room) and make sure all the switches are flipped on. If any switches are in the "off" position, flip them on. If the breaker immediately trips again, stop and proceed to Step 4
- Check individual outlets or rooms. Confirm if a wall switch has not been turned off and check for GFCI outlets and press "Reset" button if needed. You may also need to unplug any high-power appliances or devices that may have overloaded the circuit.
- Check if there is a power outage in your area by going to your electric company's website and search for "Outage Map" and enter your address. If there is a confirmed outage, power should return once service is restored by the provider.
- If the above steps do not resolve your issue, your landlord/property manager will need to be notified, as they might need to call the service provider or schedule a technician. Submit a ticket in your support portal with the details of the outage and the rooms that are affected so your landlord can work on a resolution.
Safety Reminder
Do not attempt to modify wiring, remove breaker panel covers, or perform electrical repairs yourself.
If you smell burning, see sparks, or believe there is an immediate safety hazard, contact emergency services and notify your landlord immediately by submitting a ticket in your support portal.
